When creating your estate plan, you will utilize many different techniques and documents in order to achieve your estate planning goals.  It’s also beneficial to include important information in your planning so that your loved ones are able to handle all of your affairs upon your incapacity or after your death. Without the right information, it can be hard to handle all of these important matters. Take a look at the information below to learn more.  If you have any questions or if you’d like to discuss your individual estate plan needs, meet with an estate planning attorney?

  • Do you use online banking systems?
  • Do you have important email and online account usernames and passwords?
  • Are any of your bills paid online?
  • Do you have PayPal or EBay seller accounts?
  • Do you have a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account?
  • Do you have bills that are automatically withdrawn from your bank account?
  • Would your loved ones be able to access your online accounts?

These questions can help to show you the importance of sharing information with your loved ones.  Take the above questions into consideration when handling your planning affairs.  With your estate plan, you should include the following:

  • A list of important account names and numbers
  • A list your online account numbers, usernames, and passwords
  • Your attorney and adviser contact information as well as family contact information
  • Any other important information that will assist your loved ones

You should include this information with all copies of your planning documents.  Make sure that you make it as easy as possible for your loved ones.  You want to make sure that all of your affairs will be handled.  If you’re unsure of what to include along with your plan, talk to your attorney.

If you have any additional questions regarding your estate plan, consult with a qualified estate planning attorney.
